An SUV driven by a 37-year-old woman from Bedminster was making a left turn onto Old York Road from Route 202 South when it collided with the motorcycle near the intersection of Old York Road in Centerville around 3:10 p.m., Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald said.

The motorcyclist, who was traveling north on Route 202, was found severely injured at the scene by responding officers, McDonald said alongside Branchburg Police Chief Richard Buck.

Officers from Branchburg and Readington Police Departments provided immediate medical aid until EMS crews from the Branchburg Rescue Squad and paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital arrived, but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorcyclist's name has not been released out of respect for his family.

The driver of the SUV was treated at the scene but declined further medical attention, police said. A juvenile passenger in her vehicle was taken to Morristown Memorial Hospital for additional evaluation.

The Branchburg Police Department, Readington Police Department, and Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team (CART) are conducting an ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash.
